Koen De Leus appointed Chief Economist

Koen De Leus is to join BNPP Fortis as Chief Economist.  He will succeed Peter De Keyzer, who has decided to embark on an independent career outside the Bank. Koen will report to COO Filip Dierckx.

Koen De Leus, a Belgian citizen, is a graduate of the Saint Aloysius Business School (EHSAL). He has served as Senior Economist at the KBC Group since 2012, prior to which he was Market Strategist at KBC Securities. Previously, he worked as Chief Economist for leading business newspaper De Tijd between 1996 and 2006. Koen is also the author of two books: Naar Grijsland (‘A Greying Country’), which looks at the impact of ageing on the economy and financial markets; and Gouden Beursleuzen (‘Rallying Cries from the Market’), discussing the principles of Behavioural Finance. He is currently working on a third book about The Fourth Industrial Revolution and its impact on the economy and business.

Commenting on this new appointment, Max Jadot stated: “I am very pleased to welcome Koen to BNP Paribas Fortis. The post of Chief Economist at the largest bank in Belgium is a very demanding, high-profile job, but I have no doubt that Koen’s drive, energy and professionalism will enable him to fulfil his mission."
