European Open to hold its tenth edition in Brussels and will from now on be called the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open

This year, the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open celebrates a special anniversary, with both a new location and a new title sponsor. Thanks to BNP Paribas Fortis, Belgium’s largest tennis tournament gains extra international visibility, and the move to the capital, Brussels, makes the event even more appealing. On the sporting side, this edition is highly promising, featuring international stars such as top-10 player Lorenzo Musetti (ATP-9), former champion and US Open semifinalist Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP-13), American Frances Tiafoe (ATP-29) and rising talent João Fonseca (ATP-42). For Belgium, the line-up includes David Goffin (ATP-87) and Zizou Bergs (ATP-46).

From October 12 to 19, 2025, Brussels will host the tenth edition of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open. The event will feature two major innovations.

First, BNP Paribas Fortis is introduced as the new title sponsor, giving the tournament its new name: the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open, a name that conveys strength and confidence.

Second, the tournament gains additional prestige with its move to the capital. After nine editions in Antwerp, it will now take place at Palais 12, Brussels Expo, a venue with an impressive setting and an environment fully designed for comfort and spectator experience.

BNP Paribas Fortis becomes title sponsor

BNP Paribas Fortis, a long-standing name in international sports and tennis, has become the new title sponsor of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open. This partnership highlights the bank’s commitment to supporting tennis in Belgium and internationally. “BNP Paribas Fortis has long been a key player in the international tennis world. With this new title sponsorship, the bank reinforces its engagement to further strengthen the sport,” said Dick Norman, Tournament Director of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open.

The bank also looks forward to the first edition in Brussels. “We are proud to announce this new chapter in our partnership with the European Open,” said Sandra Wilikens, Head of Affluent and Private Banking of BNP Paribas Fortis. “Our goal is to provide a high-quality experience for all tennis fans, while supporting the next generation of champions. Together with Tennium and the city of Brussels, we are confident that the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open will continue to grow and secure its place on the international tennis calendar.”

From now on, the tournament is officially called the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open, a name that reflects strength and confidence and enhances the event’s prestige.

Impressive Line-up

The player line-up for the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open 2025 reflects ambition and excitement. The tournament stays true to the successful formula of recent years, welcoming a mix of world-class stars and rising talents. Among the highlights is Italian top-10 player Lorenzo Musetti (ATP-9), whose majestic backhand is sure to make Palais 12 shake. Musetti, a Roland Garros semifinalist, recently confirmed his excellent form by reaching the US Open quarterfinals, narrowly losing to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner.

Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP-13) also impressed in New York, reaching the semifinals after outstanding wins over Zverev (ATP-3), Rublev (ATP-15), and De Minaur (ATP-8). The 25-year-old eventually fell to Sinner’s dominance. Auger-Aliassime is no stranger to Belgian fans, having already won the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open in 2022.

Other players to watch include American Frances Tiafoe (ATP-29), a former world No. 10 and this year a Roland Garros quarterfinalist and Brazilian rising star João Fonseca (ATP-42), the 19-year-old powerhouse widely regarded as the future of international tennis.

Belgian fans are eagerly anticipating the performances of their local players. David Goffin (ATP-87), competing in his seventh edition, will no doubt aim to match his best performances, while 26-year-old Zizou Bergs (ATP-46) will, after a year of ups and downs, look to thrill the home crowd once again.

Tuesday, October 14, will be fully dedicated to Belgian players with the tournament celebrating Belgian Day. Visitors are encouraged to wear red to Palais 12 and cheer for the national stars. Zizou Bergs will kick off Belgian Day with his match at 6:00 p.m..

Alongside established players, young Belgian talents will also get their chance. Raphaël Collignon (ATP-91), who recently impressed at the US Open with a victory over world No. 12 Casper Ruud, receives a wild card for the main draw. He also proved his excellent form this past weekend in the Davis Cup tie against Australia, leading Belgium to victory. In the qualifiers, a wild card goes to Gilles-Arnaud Bailly (ATP-279), one of Belgium’s brightest tennis prospects.

"With Lorenzo Musetti, a top-10 player and Roland Garros semifinalist, we are bringing an absolute world-class talent to Belgium," says Dick Norman, Tournament Director. "Félix Auger-Aliassime impressed us greatly with his US Open semifinal, and he already left his mark on Belgian soil. We are also excited to introduce the young super talent João Fonseca to our audience. And of course, we are thrilled to see our Belgian heroes David Goffin and Zizou Bergs back in the main draw. Their energy and play will undoubtedly make Palais 12 come alive. In addition to our established stars, we want to give the next generation of Belgian players a chance. With a wildcard for Raphaël Collignon, who thrilled us this past weekend and at the US Open, and Gilles-Arnaud Bailly, we are building the future of Belgian tennis together."

The public is already responding enthusiastically. Ticket sales are going fast, and there are still tickets available, so anyone wanting to experience this spectacle up close should not wait too long. The stands at Palais 12 are filling quickly, and demand continues to grow. The BNP Paribas Fortis European Open 2025 is already shaping up to be a milestone edition that will dominate the sports calendar.

Tennis for everyone

Bringing tennis closer to the people is a central focus of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open. A variety of themed days are planned: from Family Day for families on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to School Day for students on Monday and Tuesday, and even a dedicated Kids Day on Wednesday, where the youngest participants can enjoy various tennis activities. Seniors are also given attention during Senior Day, with opportunities to benefit from attractive discounts. Finally, the tenth edition of the tournament will be celebrated in style on Saturday with a 10 Year Anniversary Party.

The BNP Paribas Fortis European Open 2025 stands not only for top-level sport but also for social engagement. Initiatives such as Street Tennis bring the game directly into the heart of Brussels ahead of the tournament. In this way, young people are given the chance to experience tennis in a playful and accessible manner. “Through these events, we aim to inspire children, lower the barriers to sport, and create a real connection with the Brussels community. This is how we are building the tennis players of tomorrow together,” says Ilse Van Parys, Event Director.

"The arrival of this tournament fully aligns with our ambition to put Brussels on the map as a sports capital, especially looking ahead to 2030, the bicentennial of Belgium. We see enthusiastic support from the Belgian public, across all regions, as well as from international visitors, for a tournament taking place in the European capital. The European Open will help create momentum in our city, attract visitors from around the world, and strengthen Brussels’ image as a vibrant capital where top-level sports and tourism go hand in hand," says Philippe Close, Mayor of the City of Brussels.

Tennium, the international organizer of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open, is also looking ahead to this first edition in Brussels with great ambition. “We are deeply grateful to our partners, rights holders, and sponsors for the trust that has made this new chapter possible,” says Kristoff Puelinckx, CEO of Tennium. “Our expectations for this first year in the capital are high: we aim not only to deliver a world-class tournament but also to lay the foundation for the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open to continue growing in the future. At the same time, we continue to advance our mission through Tennium to create a global platform within our tennis ecosystem, connecting players, fans, and partners worldwide.”
