Easy Banking App integrates Wero for instant european e-commerce payments

BNP Paribas Fortis is expanding its digital payments offering in Easy Banking App, allowing private customers using Wero to pay online merchants instantly and securely.

Europe is working to strengthen its position in the payments landscape and reduce its reliance on non-European providers. With Wero, a digital account-to-account payment solution supported by many leading European banks, this ambition is taking shape through an instant and cross-border user experience.

Until now, Wero has enabled users with a bank account to easily and instantly send and receive money using a mobile number. Today, BNP Paribas Fortis is taking it a step further by enabling Easy Banking App users to pay for their online purchases with partner merchants in a single scan, without entering additional data or waiting for confirmation.

Wero is now available for business transactions, providing merchants and companies with a unified European payment solution. Its gradual integration into e-commerce platforms is making online payments faster, simpler and more secure for users. Payments can be made via the clearly identifiable Wero button in online shops or on digital invoices, or by scanning a QR code.

Émilie Jacqueroux, Chief Transformation Officer: “By giving our 2.7 million Easy Banking App users the opportunity to make e-commerce and in-store payments via Wero, BNP Paribas Fortis is responding to the growing demand for fast, secure, cross-border transactions that are also intuitive. This solution also forms part of a strategic ambition: to help establish a European payment platform, designed by and for European players, in a highly competitive global environment.”
