BNP Paribas Fortis introduces Digital Protect, an innovative insurance for mobile devices

Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have become an integral part of daily life. Users often pay considerable sums for these devices and use them increasingly to handle their banking transactions.

​ In response, BNP Paribas Fortis last week launched Hello bank! – the first pan-European bank that can be accessed only by smartphone or tablet.
​
​ That is why BNP Paribas Fortis is today introducing on the market Digital Protect, the first Belgian insurance for multiple mobile devices. Digital Protect provides retail customers and their resident family members with worldwide coverage against robbery and burglary outside of the home, fraudulent use following robbery and accidental material damage involving any of their mobile devices.

​ Customers need not add their devices to the policy beforehand. To benefit from the insurance, the customer must be a Belgian resident and the devices must have been bought new for private use within the European Union and not be more than five years old at the time of the insurance claim. Customers must be able to provide proof of purchase when submitting their claim. Provided the loss or damage is covered, the policyholder will receive a replacement device or compensation.

​ BNP Paribas Fortis and Hello bank! customers can subscribe online from now on via PC banking and from mid-July also by means of the Easy banking app (for BNP Paribas Fortis customers) or the Hello bank! app. The monthly premium of 9.5 euros is debited directly.
