New appointment at BNP Paribas Fortis’ Executive Board

Didier Van Hecke is nominated Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and member of the Executive Board of BNP Paribas Fortis, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Michael Anseeuw. The appointment of Didier Van Hecke, which has been endorsed by the bank’s governing bodies, is subject to approval of the relevant regulators. In his new position Didier succeeds Piet Van Aken, who is leaving the bank.

Didier is a seasoned professional who has extensive experience in risk management, both at the Belgian and international level. His appointment comes in recognition of his continuous commitment in various risk positions throughout the years. I wish him every success with this new challenge.”

Biographies

Didier Van Hecke

Didier Van Hecke graduated as business engineer from the KU Leuven. He joined the bank in 1992 and has a recognised experience in credit analysis and credit risk, both in Belgium and abroad. From 2008- 2011 he was the Chief Risk Officer of Fortis Turkey A.S. and subsequently became Chief Risk Officer of Turk Ekonomi Bankasi A.S. (TEB) after the merger of Fortis Turkey with TEB. In 2014 he became responsible for Risk International Retail Banking (Global Risk Management business line). In 2016 he became Head of Risk Belgian Retail Banking*, managing the Belgian Retail Banking risk process and its implementation.

 

Piet Van Aken

Piet Van Aken graduated in civil engineering from the University of Ghent and joined the Bank in 1986. He occupied several positions at Central Risk Management, before being appointed in 2009 as Head of Risk Anticipation & Capital. In 2014 he was appointed Head of Risk Belgian Retail Banking. Since 2016 he served as Chief Risk Officer of BNP Paribas Fortis.
