Easy banking application now available on Android devices

BNP Paribas Fortis, a pioneer in mobile banking in Belgium, has now added to its digital banking service offering by making the Easy banking application available on Android-based devices.

After the success of our Easy banking for iPad and iPhone, which have seen 130,000 downloads since the launch ten months ago, there were strong calls to develop an application for Android, Google’s operating system, as well.

Our clients’ patience has now been rewarded. Since 3 December, mobile users who wish to track their personal finances in real time on their tablets and/or smartphones can download, free of charge, the Easy banking application optimised for Android.

As with the iPhone and iPad version, the Android banking app has an uncluttered design which makes for ease of use and provides an array of simple and useful functions. Designed for the digital world in which nowadays most of our customers live their lives, the secure Easy banking application enables the client to check the balance of his/her accounts, transfer funds between accounts, pay bills and even locate the nearest BNP Paribas Fortis branch.

The app also provides additional functionality, such as an intuitive search engine which allows the user to retrace a transaction or display a list of operations carried our during the previous six months; a system of indicators linked to the credit card that enables clients to check available credit limits in real time; also available is our ‘Assist’ application, which lists a series of actions the customer should take if ever faced with various kinds of emergency.

Having downloaded and activated the application, the customer can then choose between two procedures for logging in, both of which ensure optimal security. With the first procedure the customer can register free of charge via SMS. The customer sends a request for a code, and receives on the mobile phone a unique - and also time-bound - code made up of a series of numbers, which the customer then has to combine with his/her individual password.

The second procedure is identical to that used for PC Banking, i.e. using a card reader.

Registration for the service and access to the Easy banking application for Android-based devices is available to our PC Banking clients.
