BNP Paribas Fortis named ‘Bank of the Year’ in Belgium

The Banker, a leading trade magazine for the financial sector, has named BNP Paribas Fortis ‘Bank of the Year – Belgium’ at a ceremony held in London on 4 December. It is the seventh time in eight years that BNP Paribas Fortis has won this prestigious award.

The presentation of the award follows a thorough review of our services, strategy, technology and financial performance by the journalists and experts of The Banker, a publication of the Financial Times Group.

The jury focused on the successful integration of bpost bank, the introduction of our new payment packages, the further development of our Easy Banking app for a better customer experience and our efforts in sustainability such as HappyNest, making green housing more accessible to a wider audience.

“Few investments are as important as buying a home and, with the launch of its ‘rent now buy later’ scheme, BNP Paribas Fortis endeavoured to support customers in the process, and also encourage the expansion of energy efficient properties.” said Laura Pavoni, editor in chief of The Banker. “The completion of its merger with bpost bank has strengthened the group’s reach as well.

CEO Michael Anseeuw: “I am very pleased that we have been named ‘Bank of the Year’ in Belgium. We see this award as recognition of all our staff’s efforts to drive the economy forward by supporting our clients in unpredictable times. We are particularly proud of the continuous and successful development of our financial services – in terms of our channels, our offering and our positioning – for both families and businesses. We continue to be a partner of trust for all our customers, for our economy and for our society, and enabling growth, improving accessibility and realising sustainable transformation* are key elements of our strategy.”

*Sustainable transition refers to the approaches taken by companies to improving their environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
